Shutters are becoming more and more popular in the family home and it is clear to see why they are popular for nurseries and children’s rooms too.
Getting your home organised for a new arrival can be a daunting thing but making sure you have made choices to stand the test of time are a worthy investment too. They don’t need to cost a fortune though, you now have the choice to get the luxury look of bedroom shutters at the fraction of the price with the DIY options making them just as affordable as blinds and curtains.
They are also a great investment too, as they stay in style throughout the trends, you won’t feel the need to go through a number of different styles to find the right one for you.
If you are still unsure of whether shutters are right for your space, here are some reasons why they are becoming more practical!
Durability –
They are built to last, even the DIY ones that you install yourselves.
Once you put them up they are not likely to be pulled on such as with curtains or have any cords broken, as you may get with blinds. The sturdier build will stand the test of time not only in looks but in durability too. Plus you will have the added benefit of your child’s safety for your own peace of mind too.
Cleaning –
We all know that little fingers end up everywhere, which is less than ideal when it comes to some fabrics. With shutters, you will be able to hoover up the worse of the dust and then with a damp cloth, you will be able to remove any additional dirt.
Keeping them clean like this will ensure that risks of bugs doing the rounds are kept to a low and the chance of dust allergies flare-ups is lowered.
Light control –
With small children, lighting is key in their room from early starts to get them settled in the evenings. When our two were small we started to get them settled in their room from a young age, to do it though needed a little light to see where we were. With shutters, we would have been able to control the light in the room to see what was going on and get them settled without the need for the main light.
They are great for opening up in the morning and start to wake them up when they get to teenagers!
Style –
This is probably up there with one of my favourite reasons that shutters look great in children’s rooms, in fact, any rooms! They are stylish throughout the trends and are easily adaptable to suit any room style and design.
Even if you switch up the room, rip up the carpet and lay a wooden floor, they will always blend in perfectly.
With the choices for you to now consider DIY shutters, rather than a company coming in to install them, they have become more viable options for homes. Without needing to blow the budget on them, it allows you to create an impact in any room of your home.
Don’t be put off by the thought of installing these yourselves, they have lots of guides to walk you through the whole process of ordering to installing them. You will have the guides to help you along the way.
