Key features to have in a home office

Having a space in your home that can be used as a home office has never been more important as it has been in 2020.

This year has seen more people than ever working from home as the lockdowns have kicked in, it has mean’t that a home office space is becoming one of the must have rooms on many that are looking for a new home. I know from a personal point of view, that space to break out and work away for the hustle and bustle of everyday life is more important than ever.

If you are looking to make an office space or maybe looking to move home and find one with office space, what are the key features you would be looking for in a home office space?

Natural light

Top of my list for a home office is natural light, after working in an office with artificial light for most of my career, the benefits of an office with a window is now a luxury!

I have found that I am able to work a bit more efficiently and have fewer headaches since I have more natural light.

Plenty of workspaces

I have found during the first lockdown my desk is just too small to work from when I have a lot of work. I am working from a cheap Ikea desk, so I can’t complain too much. However, when I get our new office space, I want space to spread out!

If I’m working from multiple pieces of paper, I would like to be able to spread them out and still be able to have access to my keyboard. I don’t think there is ever too much workspace.

Plug sockets

With more and more technology needing to be plugged in, making sure we have plenty of plug sockets is a must. We currently use the sockets in our house with the USB charger sockets on them and they are great. It means there are fewer plugs needed as lots of the technology used can be charged from a USB socket.

These are just some of the key things I will be looking for in our new home office, what is your must-have in a home office?
